Baked Ziti Recipe
8 ozs. of cooked & drained ziti
1 can (8-ozs.) tomato sauce
1 chopped small onion
1 cup of ricotta
1/2 cup of tomato paste
2/3 cup of water
1/8 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. crumbled basil leaf
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsps. olive oil
1 tsp. crumbled oregano leaf
6 ozs. of shredded mozzarella
Inside a saucepan, heat oil and saute onions until they are soft. Add in basil, oregano, pepper, salt, water, tomato sauce and tomato paste then simmer it for around 10 mins. covered. Oven should be preheated to around 375′ F.
Get a casserole dish and grease it well with some cooking spray. Mix together 3 ounces of mozzarella and all of your ricotta together inside a bowl. Pour in to this mixture 4 ozs. of tomato sauce and the ziti. Stir well.
Put the prepared ziti mixture in the prepared dish and gradually add in the remainder of tomato sauce. Scatter the remainder of your cheese on top then bake for about 25-30 mins. at around 375′ F. Should be served while hot.
