Cannelloni Recipe
Cannelloni Recipe
16 pcs. of crepes or 16 pcs. of cooked manicotti shells (shells cooked as per package instructions)
1 1/2 tbsps. chopped garlic
2 lbs. ground beef (lean)
1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
3/4 cup of chopped yellow onion
2 cups of marinara sauce or any red sauce of your choice OR
2 cups of white sauce either homemade or desired brand
2 eggs, beaten slightly
1 cup of bread crumbs, plain
3/4 cup of flour
For the special seasoning:
1 1/4 tsps. salt
1 1/4 tsps. dried basil
1 1/4 tsps. white pepper
1 1/4 tsps. garlic powder.
Just mix all the ingredients for the seasoning then set it aside. Inside a skillet or saute pan on medium flame, brown and cook the onions and the beef until the beef is cooked through and the onions become soft or tender (cooking time is around 12-15 mins).
To the same skillet or pan, add in flour, bread crumbs, eggs and grated cheese then mix them well. Add in seasoning then lower the flame to around low.
When using the shells, just stuff the filling into the shells using a dinner spoon and if you are using the crepes then place about 4-5 ozs. (half a cup) filling into the middle of the crepe then roll it lengthwise.
Inside a 13×9-inch baking pan, place the shells or crepes (now called cannellonis). The cannelloni can be stored frozen or placed inside the refrigerator just until you are ready for serving.
If you are about to plate them up just heat the oven to around 350′ F and bake the cannelloni covered inside the baking pan for 20 mins.
After cooking, place around 2 shells or crepes on 1 plate then ladle the sauce of your choice.
