Classic Lasagna Recipe
8 ozs. Lasagna
1 lb. beef (ground)
2 (6 oz.) cans of tomato paste
3/4 cup of onion, chopped
8 ozs. Sliced very thin or shredded mozzarella
1 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
1 (1 lb.) can of tomatoes
2 cups of water
2 tsps. of salt
2 tbsps. olive or canola oil
1 tsp. of sugar
1/2 tsp. of pepper
1 tbsp. parsley, chopped
1/2 tsp. of oregano leaves
1 lb. ricotta
1 tsp. of powdered garlic
In a big pan, brown the beef & the onions in some oil. Stir in tomato paste, oregano, pepper, salt, powdered garlic, sugar, parsley, water and the tomatoes that have been chopped.
Simmer the mixture without a cover and just stir it occasionally for 30 mins.
Cook the lasagna noodles as per instructions on the package and drain them off.
Evenly spread a cup of the sauce inside a 13×9-inch pan for baking then alternating it with layers of noodles, sauce, ricotta, shredded mozzarella & the parmesan then ending the dish with a layer of the sauce, mozzarella & the parmesan.
Cook inside the oven for about 40-50 mins. at around 350′ F until it has bubbled & turned a light brown. Let it cool for about 15 mins. then slice into squares prior to serving.
