Spaghetti with Red Clam Sauce Recipe
1 lb. cooked spaghetti
1 No. 2 1/2 can of Italian tomatoes
2 (10 oz.) cans of whole baby clams & liquid
1 (8 oz.) can of tomato sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 cup onions, minced
1/2 tsp. oregano
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 tsp. sweet basil
2 tbsps. olive oil
1 (6 oz.) can of tomato paste
1 tsp. salt
Parmesan(optional)
1 tbsp. parsley, chopped
Inside a Dutch oven or Crockpot, saut� the garlic and onions in olive oil just until they are softened.
Add in tomato paste, basil, pepper, salt, tomatoes and tomato sauce cooking it and stirring it often just until the mixture cooks down and thickens for about 2 hrs. (around 2/3’s of original quantity).
Next, add in clams with liquids, parsley and oregano & cook for 10 mins. more. Pour this over the warm spaghetti then finish with a sprinkling of parmesan if you like.
