Tuna Lasagna Recipe
1/2 (8 oz.) pkg. cooked lasagna noodles
1 (6 oz.) can of tomato paste
2 minced cloves of garlic
2 (6 1/2 oz.) cans of Star-Kist’ Tuna
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 lb. sliced thinly mozzarella cheese
1/2 tsp. dried basil leaf
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 (15 oz.) can of tomato sauce
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. dried oregano leaf
2 cups (16 ozs.) ricotta or small curd creamed cottage cheese
1 cup (4 ozs.) Parmesan, grated
Drain a tbsp. of oil taken from the tuna and put it in a medium-sized saucepan and add in garlic and onions then cook just until they are softened.
Next, add in tomato sauce, lemon juice, basil, oregano, sugar and tomato paste and cook it simmering without a cover for 45 mins. Take the pan out of the heat and mix in the tuna.
Spread out some of the sauce on the bottom of a 13×9-inch dish for baking or a shallow 3-qt. casserole. Layer out about 1/3 of the noodles, 1/3 of the sauce, 1/3 of the mozzarella and 1/2 of cottage cheese.
Do the layering again and be sure to end up with a layer of the noodles, tuna sauce & the mozzarella.
Finish with a sprinkling of Parmesan on the top and bake in the oven for 30 mins. at a temperature of 350′ F. Allow to cool for 10 mins. prior to serving.
